GRASAG National Swears in 2017/2018 National Executive Committee

GRASAG National Executive Swearing in -2017

The Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) National Secretariat on Saturday, 9th September, 2017 swore-in its 2017/2018 National Executive Committee (NEC) to steer the affairs of the association for the next one year.

The following were sworn-in in accordance with due processes spelt out in the GRASAG National constitution.

  • Mr. Kwame Bonah Osafo-Ampomah- National President (University of Professional Studies)
  • Mrs. Lily Appiah- National Vice President (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology)
  • Mr. Jacob Apibilla Ayembilla- National Secretary (University of Ghana)
  • Mr. Raymond Awonatezuaka Achiyaale- National Financial Controller (University of Cape Coast)
  • Mr. Kwesi Yamoah Abaidoo- National Organizing Coordinator (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology)
  • Ms. Saadatu Lawal Garbey- National Gender Commissioner (University of Ghana)

The event coincided with the last senate meeting of the Mr. Kwesi Rashid Etuaful led administration at the SRC Conference Room at the University of Cape Coast.
National Senate for the 2017/2018 academic year was also inaugurated and the following were appointed and elected as senate leadership;

  • Mr. Rexford Nii Armah Tagoe- Speaker
  • Mr. Alhassan Abubakar Sadiq- Deputy Speaker
  • Ms. Judith Arhin- Clerk of Senate

Also Mr. Courage Kwasi Nobi was also appointed as Chairman of Judicial Committee.

In attendance were member institutional leaders, national senators, committee members, appointees, campaign managers and supporters, family and friends.

In his speech, the immediate past GRASAG National President, Mr. Kwesi Rashid Etuaful stated that his administration never relented on its commitment to deliver a dedicated leadership that was anchored on the principle of honesty, transparency and accountability. He recounted on a number of successes his administration had chalked for the period including constitutional reforms, expansion of the membership base of GRASAG including diaspora branch (USA), and building of GRASAG National website among others. He thanked NEC, his appointees, institutional leaders and the entire GRASAG members for their unflinching support during his tenure of office.

The GRASAG National President, Mr. Kwame Bonah Osafo-Ampomah in his inaugural speech said a lot of distinguished personalities in various sectors of the economy of Ghana are churn out by graduate schools and his team was going to bring them on board to ensure the gap between industry and academia including research is bridged. He thanked the outgone NEC, institutional leaders, National Senators, family and friends for their support before, during and after the entire electoral process.

He also thanked their contenders for a strong intellectual battle and asked them not to relent on giving them an unflinching support because his team believes “We Are In This Together; It Is Possible Together”.

You will recall that these crop of NEC were elected at the 23rd Annual GRASAG National Delegate Congress at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science of Technology, Kumasi held from 3rd-6th August, 2017, where Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, a presidential candidate was disqualified for filing a vice presidential candidate who was not a student. The theme for the Congress was “60yrs on, sustaining a national character of research and innovation for job and industry transformation”.
